Linda is part of a newly funded project: “Unraveling the neuroplastic effects of Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) in Depression”, supported by the ZonMw Open Competition Grant. ECT is one of the most effective, yet least understood, treatments in psychiatry.
The versatile project team, consisting of Annemiek Dols, Edwin van Dellen, Philip van Eijndhoven, Dore Loef, Karel Scheepstra, Inge Huitinga and Lot de Witte, will combine brain scans with cellular analyses of donated brain tissue to uncover the biological markers that explain how it works, and use that knowledge to improve care for people living with depression.
This is exactly the kind of question our lab wants to tackle: bridging scales, bridging data types, bridging basic science and clinical impact!
